Coastal September Wedding At Wee Burn Beach Club
Darien, Connecticut
Anna and Riley’s celebration was what the true definition of joy should be. The deep kind of joy — the kind built on intention, history, and every step of the story that led them here. The kind of joy that feels so clearly worked for and so deeply deserved. Many pieces of their story feel too personal and sacred to share with the internet, but to have witnessed this chapter firsthand and to stand beside them as they celebrated the beginning of the next season of their incredible love story was a true honor.
I’ll never forget the way Anna and I first found our way to each other. We had spoken on the phone, and I was immediately drawn to her warmth and authenticity. In the weeks that followed, I happened to be photographing another wedding in Darien at Tokeneke Club — another one of my favorite wedding days ever — and recognized Anna in the crowd from her Instagram profile after she had started following me. Long story short, we connected in person, and I ended up capturing a very fun photo of Riley doing the limbo at the reception. It really is such a small world.
Anna and Riley began their wedding weekend with a dinner and welcome drinks at Woodway Beach Club, where the details were intricate, beautiful, and full of personality. With great music, smiles on every face, and a deep appreciation for the simple joy of having all of their favorite people in one place, the weekend began in the best possible way.
On their wedding day, I arrived to be handed a magnificent box of details — and if you know me, you know this is one of my official love languages. I began by styling and photographing their flat lay, capturing the thoughtful pieces that reflected the coastal elegance of the day. Their first look was tucked away in a quiet corner, giving Anna and Riley a moment together before we moved into a few portraits overlooking the water, followed by formal photographs with their family, wedding party, and their pup. The ceremony was everything one hopes for on a peaceful September day by the water, with a beautiful view of the Sound and so many tender, meaningful moments shared.
From there, the rest of the night unfolded into an unforgettable celebration — the kind of party that feels both joyful and heartfelt, honoring everyone who was there with them while also pausing to remember those who were not.
A vintage cake, Diet Cokes with the most adorable striped straws, espresso martinis passed on silver trays, music by Hank Lane Band, and countless thoughtful details made this a night none of us will forget.
