so you found my website… now what?

As you’re preparing for your wedding (and whether the guest list includes all of your cousins or if you still haven’t decided whether to tell anyone you’re running to the beach in a month to tie the knot), there are a lot of decisions that have to be made. Choosing a photographer is likely on that list, and I’m kinda hoping to be there, camera in hand, on your beautiful day. You may have so many questions you’re starting to feel a bit overwhelmed. I’m here to help and I hope this overview of the process begins to answer some of your questions.

the process

before you get engaged

If you’re about to ask your best friend to marry you, consider getting in touch so we’re able to start documenting the beginning of your forever love story! Your proposal will mean everything to your love, but I guarantee you’ll get major credit if you surprise them with images of their reaction followed by a brief portrait session to remember this moment forever.

you get engaged

Either you were the one popping the question or the one saying “A thousand times YES!” Let me start by saying, Congratulations!! You are entering an exciting season in life and I hope you are able to cherish every single beautiful moment of it.

You start searching for your wedding team

I know. You get engaged and the next morning your mom calls you to ask if you have your guest list. To all the moms out there, we love you, and we understand all of the planning is a display of your own excitement and it is a gesture of love. But, I get it. You’re overwhelmed and suddenly your inbox is full of wedding options and your lunch break is spent on Pinterest trying to figure out what a boutonniere even is. Take a deep breath. I’m happy to give suggestions for amazing wedding professionals I’ve worked with and who are also ready to help you make sure everything is just as you imagined for your celebration.

someone tells you it’s important to book your photographer soon and then you ended up here

Well, that someone was right - it is important to find your photographer soon. I often receive inquiries over a year in advance, and particularly on the East Coast there are a few really popular dates/months and they book quickly. I’d hate for us to miss the opportunity to connect!

You use the contact form to reach out

You say hello (and add as many details about you and your fiancé and your love story, because I already love you guys and want to know all about you) and I receive your information and inquiry, do a little dance, and email you back to setup a time to chat.

we plan a time to talk that works for everyone

I believe in phone calls and coffee dates. What I mean by that is that if we haven’t had a chance to talk on the phone or sit down in person I won’t send any documents to book. Truth is, I want to make sure I am the right person to document your day and I need to get to know you so I know how to best serve you.

you receive a bunch of information about packages and album options

Everything we talk about on the phone you’ll have the chance to read over and discuss. You’ll choose a package and add on any additional items or services.

you decide to hire cora jane photo company as your wedding photographer

I do another happy dance because I’m looking forward to getting to know you better and document your story (you can bet my husband thinks I’m crazy every time I start dancing and it hasn’t stopped me yet). Once we’ve decided to work together I send a proposal. A 50% retainer is required in order to secure your day in my calendar.

you book an engagement session

I love engagement sessions because they give everyone an opportunity to get comfortable. Most couples haven’t spent a lot of time in front of the camera so it allows us to interact and help make your wedding day as smooth as possible.

i become (even more) invested in your wedding day

Leading up to the big day I’m always accessible by phone or email. You may have a lot of questions about how to choose the right venue, caterer, makeup artist, etc. and I’m always happy to help. A month prior to your wedding day you’ll receive a questionnaire where you’ll be able to provide all of the details you’ve worked so hard to bring together. Once I receive the answered questions we’ll chat one more time about final details and all that’s left is for you guys to get married!

you get married (yay!)

This is obviously the coolest part of the whole process and it’s truly an honor to be able to witness you say “I Do”

you receive your wedding gallery

All of your wedding images will be delivered in an online gallery within 4-6 weeks from your wedding date.

we become friends forever

This actually happens. I’ll be commenting on all of your photos and responding with all kinds of emojis to your Insta stories forever.
